The principle of SLM (Selective Laser Melting) is casting the laser onto the metal powder with relevant energy density, melting the powder in the casting area. The energy density relates to scanning speed, distance, and the power of laser. The energy of laser will form a heat affected zone, called molten pool. The molten pool will affect prototype welding effect of surrounding powder.
